Wizards 100, Bucks 85

Nick Young scored 26 points and the Washington Wizards snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 100-85 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

Young scored 13 points during the opening 5 1/2 minutes of the third quarter as Washington (14-37) won for the first time since upsetting the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Celtics on Jan. 22.

Brandon Jennings scored 20 points for Milwaukee (20-31) in his best effort since returning from a broken foot.

Young’s third-quarter exploits helped Washington turn a 10-point halftime lead into a 66-48 advantage. He scored five baskets, including two 3-pointers, as the Wizards began distancing themselves from the Bucks.

JaVale McGee contributed 16 points and 17 rebounds and Cartier Martin scored 15 points on five 3-pointers for the Wizards. Rookie John Wall also scored 15 points.

Young had three 3-pointers as Washington made 10-of-16 from the arc.

John Salmons added 14 points for Milwaukee, which has lost five of six. Andrew Bogut had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Jennings’ basket pulled the Bucks within 83-71 with 6:52 remaining, but Martin hit back-to-back 3-pointers to rebuild the lead to 18.

Washington’s biggest lead was 74-52 after Wall’s two free throws with 2:47 left in the third quarter.
