Suns 109, Wizards 91
Channing Frye scored 25 points and tied a career high with seven 3-pointers as the Phoenix Suns overcame an early playmaking clinic by John Wall to continue their hottest streak of the season in a 109-91 victory over the host Washington Wizards on Friday.
Steve Nash had 17 points and 14 assists while Marcin Gortat added 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Suns, who have won five straight.
Frye drained four three-pointers and Nash added five assists in the decisive third quarter as Phoenix turned a one-point halftime deficit into an 83-71 lead entering the final 12 minutes.
Wall assisted on nine of Washington’s 11 field goals in the first quarter and added a jumper of his own as the Wizards jumped to a 33-22 lead through 12 minutes. But Phoenix used a 10-0 run in the second and eight points from Gortat to pull within 53-52 at the break.
Wall finished with 14 assists and five turnovers and shot just 4 of 13 from the floor for 11 points. Nick Young scored 20 of his 25 points in the first half for Washington, which dropped to 12-9 at home compared to 0-20 on the road.
