Reserves Darrell Arthur and Tony Allen combined for 28 points in the first half, and the Memphis Grizzlies hit the offensive boards in the decisive third quarter en route to a 107-93 victory Saturday over the Washington Wizards, who remained winless on the road.
The Wizards’ 23-game road losing skid is the longest since the Atlanta Hawks lost 23 during the 2004-05 season. Next up are the Chicago Bulls, who lost 25 straight in 2000.
Zach Randolph had 24 points and 20 rebounds, and Mike Conley added 15 points and 12 assists for the Grizzlies, who reached .500 (24-24) for the first time since starting the season 2-1. Memphis has won five of its last six games and 10 of 15.
Arthur scored 17 of his 22 points in the first half on 7-of-8 shooting and Allen added 11 of his 15 on a perfect 5-of-5 first-half performance. Memphis took a 59-50 lead at the break, shooting 54.3 percent and committing just three turnovers.
Randolph grabbed five of the seven offensive rebounds in the third period and scored six points, and Arthur scored five points during a 17-4 closing run that allowed Memphis to coast into the final period with an 86-67 lead. Washington got no closer than 14 points until the game’s final minutes.
John Wall had 14 points and eight rebounds for the Wizards, who played without center JaVale McGee for a second straight game due to an illness.
