Mavericks 103, Thunder 93
Jason Kidd had 10 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and four steals as the Dallas Mavericks pulled away for 103-93 victory over the host Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday night.
Shawn Marion had 20 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Mavericks (24-5), who have won five straight and 17 of their last 18 games.
Caron Butler had 21 points, while Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry scored 13 apiece as Dallas, which has the second-best record in the NBA, pulled within 1½ games of the San Antonio Spurs in the Southwest Division.
Nowitzki left the game with 9:10 remaining in the second quarter when he
stumbled to the floor after making a fall-away jumper. He was fouled on
the play and after making the free throw, he walked gingerly to the
locker room and did not return.
Kevin Durant scored a game-high 28 points for the Thunder (21-11). Durant, who was coming off a 44-point performance against Denver on Christmas night, leads the NBA in scoring at 28.1 points per game.
James Harden’s free throws gave Oklahoma City an 84-83 lead with 9 minutes left, but Terry scored seven straight points as Dallas took the lead for good.
Russell Westbrook had 15 points and seven assists and Harden scored 18 points for the Thunder, who had won seven of their last nine games.
