Jazz 94, Grizzlies 85
Deron Williams took over with 27 points and eight assists and C.J. Miles added 20 points off the bench as the Utah Jazz held off the Memphis Grizzlies 94-85 on Monday.
Raja Bell chipped in 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and Al Jefferson finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz, who have won seven of eight.
The Grizzlies trailed by five points heading into the fourth quarter and could never quite close the gap. They pulled to within 84-81 with 4:13 left before Bell drained a 3-pointer and Miles converted a three-point play to extend the lead.
After struggling to 12 points on 4-of-13 shooting in a 93-81 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, Williams made sure to begin strong with nine points in the first quarter as Utah took a 20-16 lead. It was Miles’ turn in the second, keeping the Jazz ahead with 15 points in frame.
Mike Conley scored 19 points and Zach Randolph collected 17 points and 14 rebounds for the Grizzlies, who have lost their last four.
