Grizzlies 104, Suns 98 (OT)
Zach Randolph dominated inside with 34 points on 15-of-19 shooting and 17 rebounds to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 104-98 overtime victory over the host Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.
Rudy Gay hit a 3-pointer as time expired in regulation to force the extra session and finished with 22 points for the Grizzlies, who squandered a big fourth-quarter lead but snapped a four-game slide.
Memphis held a 78-64 lead over the NBA's highest-scoring team entering the fourth quarter but watched that lead shrink as Phoenix's offense awoke with an 18-6 burst to pull within 84-81 with 5:56 left. Hedo Turkoglu’s 3-pointer three minutes later knotted it at 86-86.
Turkoglu drained another shot from the arc with 6.2 seconds remaining to give the Suns a 91-88 lead, and Mike Conley and Channing Frye each split a pair of free throws, giving Memphis the ball back with 2.4 seconds remaining. That was all the time Gay needed to hoist a 3-pointer and force overtime.
Randolph had two buckets in overtime, including a short jumper that provided a 102-98 lead with eight seconds left.
Goran Dragic scored 17 points and Turkoglu added 15 for the Suns. Steve Nash had 11 points and seven assists but turned the ball over eight times.
