Hornets 98, Grizzlies 91
Chris Paul had 23 points and 14 assists and Jarrett Jack added 19 points to lead the New Orleans Hornets to a 98-91 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.
Willie Green delivered 13 of his 15 points in the final quarter for New Orleans (36-28), which snapped a three-game losing streak.
Zach Randolph had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Memphis (34-29), which had a chance to tie with 34.1 seconds left but Marc Gasol missed two three throws.
Jack’s 3-pointer had given New Orleans a 93-85 lead with 2:50 remaining, but Randolph scored six straight to bring Memphis within two with 57 seconds left.
After Gasol misfired, Jack hit two free throws with 32.1 seconds to go, starting a string of five straight New Orleans points to close the contest.
Hornets leading scorer David West left the game in the first quarter with a sprained left ankle and didn’t return. Green sparked the team in the fourth, and his three-point play with 10:37 remaining gave New Orleans a 77-74 lead it would not relinquish.
O.J. Mayo added 13 points for Memphis.
