Trail Blazers 106, Suns 99

Red-hot Wesley Matthews scored 11 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Portland Trail Blazers came from behind to earn a 106-99 home victory over the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.

Brandon Roy added 20 points, five rebounds and five assists and LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in 20 points for the Blazers (10-11), who have won two straight to pull within a win of .500.

Matthews has scored at least 23 points in five of the last six games and is averaging 21.5 points while shooting better than 50 percent from the field in that span.

Portland had a solid first half and carried a 51-47 edge into the locker room. But Phoenix came out of the break strong, scoring the first six points of the third period to take the lead and ending the frame on a 9-2 burst to make it 75-69 heading into the final 12 minutes.

The Blazers chipped away and traded the advantage back and forth four times before opening it to 96-89 when Nicolas Batum hit a 3-pointer with 1:38 to play. Portland hit 32-of-33 free throws in the contest, including 10-of-10 in the final 42 seconds.

Steve Nash finished with 24 points and 15 assists for Phoenix, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
