Thunder 111, Suns 107
Jeff Green led the way with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting as the Oklahoma City Thunder used a big fourth quarter to overcome the Phoenix Suns, 111-107, on Friday.
Kevin Durant added 24 points and 11 rebounds and Russell Westbrook chipped in 19 points and 11 assists for the Thunder, who have won four of five.
Oklahoma City trailed, 87-80, entering the fourth quarter but quickly made up the difference with an 8-1 surge to begin the frame. The Suns would respond with six straight points before Durant and Westbrook got it going, combining for nine points over the next three minutes and pulling even again when Durant hit two technical free throws with 4:13 remaining.
Grant Hill’s 3-point put Phoenix back on top but the Thunder came right back, finally grabbing a 103-102 edge on Serge Ibaka’s jumper and pulling ahead for good at 105-103 when Ibaka tipped in Westbrook’s miss with 1:29 on the clock.
Durant and Westbrook each hit a pair of free throws in the final 13 seconds to clinch it.
Vince Carter scored 33 points for the Suns, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
