Spurs 95, Grizzlies 82
Manu Ginobili led the way with 24 points and Tony Parker chipped in 15 and seven assists as the San Antonio Spurs got a small measure of revenge with a 95-82 win over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
Richard Jefferson added 14 points for the Spurs, who lost to the eighth-seeded Grizzlies in the first round of the playoffs after posting the best record in the Western Conference.
San Antonio made its run in the third quarter, beginning the frame with a 25-5 burst. Ginobili scored six points during the run and rookie Kawhi Leonard capped the spurt with a 3-pointer to put the Spurs in front, 68-49.
Memphis would draw back to within 77-70 when Rudy Gay knocked down a 3-pointer with 7:26 left in the game but Ginobili hit five straight free throws to kick off a 9-2 run and put San Antonio back in control.
Ginobili’s steal and transition dunk with 2:38 remaining put the game away.
Zach Randolph, who dominated the Spurs in that playoff series last spring, was held to 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting and six rebounds for the Grizzlies. Gay finished with 19 points and 10 boards to lead Memphis.
