Mavericks 99, Raptors 86
Dirk Nowitzki scored 18 points and the Dallas Mavericks got 56 points off the bench en route to their first victory of the season, 99-86, over the visiting Toronto Raptors on Friday.
Ian Mahinmi led the reserves with 19 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the field and 7-of-11 from the line for the Mavericks, who had lost the first three games of their NBA title defense.
After allowing its first three opponents to shoot a combined 52 percent, Dallas did a bit better against the Raptors, limiting them to 46 percent and forcing 17 turnovers.
The Mavericks did their best job defensively in the fourth quarter, holding Toronto to 16 points in the frame to extend the lead.
The Raptors pulled to within 88-81 with 6:35 left but Rodrique Beaubois hit a jumper and made two steals over the next two minutes. Jason Terry scored five points as Dallas outscored Toronto 11-5 in the final 6:13.
Andrea Bargnani scored 30 points and Leandro Barbosa added 20 off the bench for the Raptors, who have dropped two in a row.
