Jazz 102, 76ers 99

Derrick Favors had a career-high 20 points and 11 rebounds and Gordon Hayward nailed a key 3-pointer as the Utah Jazz earned their first victory with a 102-99 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night at EnergySolutions Arena.

Favors was 10 of 16 for the Jazz (1-2) in his best game of the young season. He started for Al Jefferson, who was scratched before tipoff with an ankle problem. Utah's Devin Harris had 19 points, Paul Millsap had 14 points and 13 rebounds. Hayward scored 15.

Jrue Holiday had hurt his knee against Phoenix but was sound with 22 points on 9 of 15 shooting.

Spencer Hawes had a double-double for Philadelphia (1-2) with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Lou Williams had 20 points off the bench but missed all five 3-point attempts. The 76ers have lost seven in a row in Salt Lake City.

Utah avoided its first 0-3 start since the 1979-80 season.

Andre Iguodala hit a 3-pointer and Williams' short jumper got the 76ers to 95-94 but Iguodala missed two free throws at 2:10 that could have given the 76ers the lead. Harris made a 22-footer for a 97-94 lead at 1:54. Williams made two free throws but Favors tipped in Millsap's miss for a 99-96 lead.

Brand made one of two free throws after being fouled by Millsap. Then Hayward gave the Jazz a 101-97 lead with a jumper from the right side.

Williams made it 101-99 with two more free throws. Harris gave the 76ers a chance when he traveled with 13.8 seconds left. Williams and Hawes missed shots and the Jazz escaped after Williams missed a long 3-pointer.
