Knicks 91, Bobcats 87

Amar’e Stoudemire had 25 points and 12 rebounds and Carmelo Anthony scored 22 as the New York Knicks notched a 91-87 victory over the visiting Charlotte Bobcats on Monday.

Tyson Chandler added 20 points and 13 rebounds for New York (5-4), which won its third consecutive contest.

Boris Diaw had 19 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists for Charlotte (2-7), which lost its third straight game since beating the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.

Charlotte’s D.J. Augustin missed a game-tying 3-point attempt with one second remaining before Anthony hit one of two free throws to clinch it.

New York led 79-71 after Stoudemire’s basket with 6:48 remaining before the Bobcats went on an 11-3 surge and tied the score on a 3-pointer by Augustin with 2:57 left.

Anthony scored back-to-back baskets as the Knicks regained the lead but Charlotte wouldn’t go away and moved within 88-87 on Augustin’s 3-pointer with 10 seconds left. Anthony hit two free throws prior to Augustin’s final miss.

D.J. White scored 15 points, Gerald Henderson added 14 and Augustin scored 12 for the Bobcats.

Charlotte scored the first 10 points but New York rallied to lead 24-21 by the end of the quarter. The Knicks had a 50-45 halftime advantage.
