Hawks 93, Timberwolves 91
Ivan Johnson made a pair of free throws with four seconds left to lift the host Atlanta Hawks to a 93-91 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.
Joe Johnson scored 25 points and Jeff Teague added 20 as the Hawks used a 16-0 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to help complete the comeback.
Joe Johnson nailed a 3-pointer for an 89-86 cushion with 1:125 remaining. After Ricky Rubio hit a game-tying 3 with 27 seconds to go, Ivan Johnson was fouled while grabbing an offensive rebound and made both from the line.
Kevin Love came up empty on his 3 at buzzer for win.
Love finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds while Rubio had 18 points and 12 assists for Minnesota, which led 71-53 with 3:40 left in the third quarter.
After the Hawks closed out the frame with 12 unanswered points, Willie Green and Vladimir Radmanovic opened the fourth with back-to-back 3-pointers to pull Atlanta within 71-69. Rubio ended the drought with a jumper before the Hawks scored eight straight points for a 77-73 lead on Teague’s free throw.
The Hawks went 0 of 9 on 3-pointers as they trailed 54-42 at halftime.
