Timberwolves 105, Mavericks 90

Kevin Love had 29 points and 10 rebounds to power the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves to a 105-90 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday night.

Rookie point guard Ricky Rubio also had a double-double with 17 points and 12 assists to go with seven rebounds as Minnesota snapped Dallas' seven-game home winning streak.

Wayne Ellington and Nikola Pekovic added 16 and 15 points, respectively, to give the Timberwovles their second win over the Mavericks this month and ended their run of holding opponents under 100 points at 15 games.

Jason Terry scored 17 points to lead Dallas, which had its three-game winning streak halted in its third game without NBA Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki.

Love, who agreed to a four-year contract extension earlier Wednesday, canned four free throws in a 6-0 run to open the fourth quarter. That extended the advantage to 84-72, and the Mavericks never threatened.

Minnesota trailed by 10 points with just over a minute to play in the first half, but Love and Rubio buried 3-pointers in an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 54-52 at halftime.

The Timberwolves carried that momentum into the third quarter, scoring 13 of the first 17 points to move ahead 65-58.
