Jazz 98, Grizzlies 88

Gordon Hayward scored a season-high 23 points and Al Jefferson had 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Utah Jazz to a 98-88 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

Paul Millsap added 16 points for Utah, which snapped a three-game losing streak and won for just the second time in seven games.

Rudy Gay scored 22 points, Marc Gasol had 17 points and nine rebounds and Mike Conley added 17 points for Memphis.

Utah led most of the contest and held off a late Memphis push while winning for just the third time in 10 road games.

The Grizzlies were within 85-81 after Gay’s 18-footer with 4:46 left. Hayward connected on a 3-pointer to start an 11-3 run and Jefferson completed it with a three-point play as Utah increased its lead to 12 with 2:18 remaining.

The Jazz forced 18 turnovers and held Memphis to 43.6 percent shooting after allowing more than 100 points in four of the last six games.

Utah jumped out a 12-point, first-quarter lead en route to a 46-40 halftime advantage. Memphis never led until a three-point play by Conley gave the Grizzlies a 61-59 lead with 5:04 left in the third quarter. The Jazz rallied to take a 69-66 lead into the final stanza.
