HAWKS 101, SUNS 99: Josh Smith took over with 30 points, 17 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks as visiting Atlanta sent Phoenix to its third straight loss.
Willie Green hit four 3-pointers en route to 20 points off the bench and Jeff Teague recorded 16 points and five assists for the Hawks, who reached the century mark for the first time this month and snapped a two-game skid.
Smith split a pair of free throws with nine seconds left and Green hit two from the line two seconds later to clinch the victory.
Atlanta trailed by as much as 15 points in the third quarter before Smith caught fire. The veteran knocked down two 3-pointers and scored the final eight points of the third to cut the deficit to 77-73.
A 12-0 run through the middle of the fourth put the Hawks in control, 88-81, with 6:01 to play. Atlanta pushed it to 98-89 after back-to-back 3-pointers from Vladimir Radmanovic and Green but went cold from there, failing to record a field goal in the final 2:15.
Steve Nash led the Suns with 22 points and 16 assists.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Phoenix was swept on its back-to-back-to-back set … Nash and Grant Hill, who were both given the middle game of three straight off on Tuesday, combined for 40 points … Hawks G Joe Johnson went 2 for 10 from the floor and is shooting 35 percent over the last five games.
