Dante Cunningham tipped in the winning shot with under a second on the clock, and Rudy Gay scored 20 points as host Memphis won its third straight and added to Denver’s recent woes.

Marc Gasol collected 16 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists and O.J. Mayo scored 17 points off the bench for the Grizzlies, who overcame 17 turnovers.

The Nuggets began the fourth quarter with an 18-7 burst to grab their first lead of the game, 91-90, with 4:33 left.

The lead changed hands seven times in the final 2:11, with Denver taking its final edge on Corey Brewer’s tip-in with 24 seconds left.

The Grizzlies called timeout and drew up a play for Gay, whose 17-foot jumper in the final second just missed. Cunningham was there for the put-back, and tapped it in with 0.2 seconds left on the clock.

Brewer scored 26 points and Kenneth Faried recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who have dropped seven of nine.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Memphis led 34-15 after the first quarter and 60-43 at the half … Denver got 46 points from its bench, led by Faried and Andre Miller (13) … Friday marked Gasol’s first double-double since Feb. 2.
