Mavericks 107, Wizards 101

O.J. Mayo scored 25 points and Chris Kaman added 23 and eight rebounds as host Dallas jumped out to a big lead and held off winless Washington.

Elton Brand collected 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Mavericks, who snapped a three-game slide.

Dallas held an 88-70 lead after Mayo hit three free throws early in the fourth quarter, but it missed four field-goal attempts and turned over the ball four times as the Wizards crawled back into the game with a 15-0 run. Washington pulled within one possession five times in the final seven minutes but never was able to fully close the gap.

Cartier Martin hit four 3-pointers and scored all 14 of his points in the fourth quarter and Kevin Seraphin added 14 of his 16 in the period for the Wizards. Jordan Crawford scored a team-high 21 points off the bench for Washington, which is the last winless team in the NBA at 0-7.

The Mavericks decided to shake things up by moving Kaman and Dahntay Jones into the starting lineup. The moves seemed to provide a spark in the first half, as Dallas shot 59.5 percent and led 63-45 at the half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Detroit Pistons, who had been alongside the Wizards in the winless category, picked up their first victory earlier Wednesday. … The Wizards got 63 points off the bench and went 13-of-27 from 3-point range. … Dallas rookie Jae Crowder, who was moved out of the starting lineup, scored 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting off the bench.
