J.J. Redick led all five starters in double figures with 23 points as visiting Orlando snapped a five-game slide.
Arron Afflalo scored 19 points and Glen Davis added 17 and 13 rebounds for the Magic, who earned their first road victory and denied Detroit a rare winning streak.
Greg Monroe collected 23 points and seven rebounds and Tayshaun Prince scored 18 for the Pistons, who earned their first win Wednesday at Philadelphia.
Detroit went on top 102-101 after a pair of free throws by Kyle Singler but Orlando called a timeout and drew up the play for Redick, who took a feed from Nikola Vucevic and buried a 3-pointer. Monroe missed a layup at the other end and Davis hit a short jumper to make it a 106-102 gap with 15 seconds left.
The Pistons led by as much as 75-62 in the third before the Magic began to fight back, holding Detroit scoreless over the final 2:56 of the third to draw within 75-71 heading into the final period. Redick’s 3-pointer tied it at 85-85 with 8:15 left and it went back and forth until the final seconds.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Singler started again at guard, with Rodney Stuckey coming off the bench for Detroit. Singler made his first start in the win on Wednesday. … Magic guard Jameer Nelson (hamstring/groin) returned after a six-game absence and chipped in 13 points and 10 assists. … Vucevic recorded 11 points and 13 rebounds for his third straight double-double.
