Carmelo Anthony scored 26 points and Raymond Felton collected 11 points and eight assists as host New York bounced back from its first loss to down Indiana.
J.R. Smith added 13 points and Rasheed Wallace and Steve Novak scored nine apiece for the Knicks, who moved to 4-0 at Madison Square Garden.
Paul George scored 20 points and David West added 14 and seven rebounds for the Pacers, who failed to reach 80 points for the third time in the last eight games.
After allowing a season-high 105 points in its first loss at Memphis on Friday, New York came out strong on the defensive end against Indiana. The Knicks limited the Pacers to 30 points on 26.3 percent shooting in the first half and used a 13-3 run in the second quarter to take control.
Indiana found some offense in the third quarter but New York kept pace and took a 68-56 lead into the fourth. Smith’s 3-pointer capped an 11-4 burst to begin the final frame and stretched the lead out to 79-60 with 6:00 left.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Knicks PG Jason Kidd received seven stitches on the right side of his head after taking a hit from Pacers G Lance Stephenson on a 3-point attempt in the first quarter. Kidd returned to the game. … New York C Marcus Camby grabbed four rebounds in 13 minutes off the bench. He had been a healthy scratch the previous two games. … Pacers C Roy Hibbert recorded as many turnovers (six) as points.
