Martell Webster added 16 points and John Wall collected 15 and nine assists for the Wizards, who have won three straight for the second time this season.
Deron Williams had 20 points and Joe Johnson chipped in 14 as the Nets struggled to 32.9 percent from the field in falling to 11-12 on the road.
Washington made its move in the second quarter, turning a one-point edge into a 51-31 lead at the break. Brooklyn went the first 8:24 of the second quarter without a field goal until Brook Lopez finally snapped the drought.
The Wizards went through their own drought of over six minutes in the third quarter as the Nets cut it to 62-53, but A.J. Price ended the period with a 3-pointer to send Washington into the final frame with a 65-53 edge. Brooklyn never got within single digits in the fourth.
