Rudy Gay scored a game-high 20 points, Kyle Lowry added 14 and 10 assists and Amir Johnson scored 14 for the Raptors, who earned a second consecutive win.
Robin Lopez scored 19 points for the Hornets while point guard Greivis Vasquez followed up his first career triple-double with 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. No. 1 overall pick Anthony Davis struggled to two points on 1-of-6 shooting.
After Brian Roberts completed a three-point play to cut the Raptors’ lead to 73-71 with 10:06 left, Toronto responded with a 10-3 run to surge back ahead. Lucas did the bulk of the damage, hitting consecutive jumpers before closing the spurt with a 3-pointer to give the Raptors an 84-74 edge with 7:28 minutes remaining.
Lucas hit his fifth 3-pointer minutes later as the lead swelled to 89-76. The Hornets would only get within 13 points the rest of the way.
