Brook Lopez scored 21 points and Deron Williams had 20 points and 11 assists as visiting Brooklyn handed Phoenix its seventh loss in eight games.
Kris Humphries added a season-best 17 points and C.J. Watson scored 14 points as the Nets pulled within two games of third-place Indiana in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
Goran Dragic had a season-high 31 points and recorded 12 assists and Wesley Johnson scored a season-best 21 points for the Suns. Dragic intentionally missed a free throw with three seconds left and Hamed Haddadi grabbed the rebound but missed his last-second tying attempt.
Williams drained a 3-pointer with 5:07 left in the contest to give Brooklyn a 90-87 lead and the Nets never trailed again. Phoenix cut its deficit to 100-99 on Dragic’s basket with 6.8 seconds left and Watson hit two free throws with 6.3 seconds remaining before the concluding sequence.
Lopez and Humphries scored 12 points apiece as the Nets took a 55-43 halftime lead. The advantage was still 12 midway through the third quarter before Phoenix finished with a flourish and took a 76-75 lead on Johnson’s 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in the stanza.
