Caron Butler scored 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting as Los Angeles sent visiting Portland to its 12th straight loss.
Blake Griffin added 16 points and DeAndre Jordan collected 10 points and nine rebounds in a short night for the Clippers’ starters. Los Angeles is tied with the Memphis Grizzlies for homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs and could jump into third place in the Western Conference with a win at Sacramento and a loss by the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday.
Will Barton scored 17 points and Joel Freeland had 13 for the Blazers, who are one loss away from tying the franchise record.
Los Angeles took control behind the second unit in the second quarter. Ryan Hollins scored five points and Lamar Odom nailed a 3-pointer during a 15-0 burst that stretched the lead to 45-29, and the Clippers pushed it out to 54-37 at the half.
Butler, who left the previous game with a knee injury, scored 18 points in the third quarter as Los Angeles ran the lead to 82-55 late in the period before pulling the starters and leaving the rest of the game to the deep bench.
