Anthony Davis collected 25 points, eight rebounds, six steals and six blocks as host New Orleans trounced Charlotte to earn its first win.
Tyreke Evans scored 15 points off the bench and Jrue Holiday recorded 14 points and eight assists for the Pelicans, who went 7-for-13 from 3-point range. Jason Smith and Greg Stiemsma each added five blocks as New Orleans swatted away 18 shots.
Ramon Sessions scored 22 points off the bench and Kemba Walker had 14 as the only two players to reach double figures for the Bobcats, who shot 37.5 percent from the field.
The Pelicans shot out to an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes and never looked back. Davis’ jumper made it 30-13 with 1:55 left in the first quarter and New Orleans pushed it out to 37-15 on Evans’ basket early in the second.
Charlotte cut the deficit to 15 points at the half but never crept back within single digits. Anthony Morrow hit a 3-pointer to make it 98-75 with 4:56 left in the game as the Pelicans closed it out.
GAME NOTEBOOK: New Orleans’ 18 blocks set a franchise record, eclipsing the old mark of 15. … Bobcats C Al Jefferson (ankle) missed his second straight game. … Charlotte F Jeff Adrien pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds off the bench.
