Mike Conley scored 15 points and dished out eight assists and Zach Randolph added 15 and seven rebounds as Memphis won for the 16th time in its last 17 regular-season home games.
Marc Gasol chipped in 14 points and eight boards and Jerryd Bayless scored 15 - all in the fourth quarter - to help the Grizzlies rally to even their record at 2-2. Bayless was 6-of-7 from the field in the final stanza.
Jeff Green scored a game-high 22 points and Jared Sullinger added 16 off the bench for Boston, which dropped to 0-4 for the first time since the 1969-70 season. Avery Bradley chipped in 14 points, and Jordan Crawford had 12.
Green scored 16 points as the Celtics took a 50-46 halftime lead. Gasol poured in 10 quick points during a 16-3 Grizzlies run early in the third quarter, as Memphis surged ahead 62-55.
The Celtics closed the quarter on a 15-0 run, with Sullinger's second 3-pointer of the night capping the spurt for a 72-66 lead entering the final period. Boston's lead was as large as seven before Bayless sparked the comeback, putting Memphis ahead for good with a 3-pointer for an 87-86 lead with 4:18 left.
