Goran Dragic matched a season high with 31 points and recorded 10 assists and Channing Frye contributed a season-best 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds as host Phoenix halted Portland’s 11-game winning streak.
Markieff Morris scored 19 points and twin brother Marcus added 15 for the Suns, who have handed the Trail Blazers two of their three defeats. Phoenix has won 22 of its last 26 home games against Portland.
LaMarcus Aldridge scored 24 points to pace the Trail Blazers, who lost for the first time since Nov. 5 against the Houston Rockets. Damian Lillard had 16 points and Nicolas Batum added 15.
The Suns led by three points at halftime before starting the third quarter with 10 straight points, capped by Dragic’s 3-pointer. Phoenix led 90-76 entering the final stanza and Frye began the period with a 3-pointer, and the Suns led by as many as 22 while cruising to the finish.
Portland led 32-21 after one quarter before the Suns exploded for 40 second-quarter points for a 61-58 lead at the break. Dragic scored 12 points in the quarter and Frye added 11.
