Glen Davis recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds while Jameer Nelson scored all of his 17 points in the second half as visiting Orlando beat Charlotte to end a six-game losing streak.
Nikola Vucevic contributed 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Magic after missing the last four games with an ankle injury. Arron Afflalo scored 16 points and Andrew Nicholson, E’Twaun Moore and Victor Oladipo each added 10 for Orlando, which improved to 2-10 on the road.
Gerald Henderson led five players in double figures with 12 points and Al Jefferson chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats. Josh McRoberts added 11 points while Cody Zeller and Kemba Walker, who was 4-of-18 from the field, had 10 each for Charlotte.
Zeller had six points as Charlotte led 18-16 after one quarter and Ben Gordon scored seven early in the second as the Bobcats pushed their lead as high as six. The Magic fought back as Vucevic scored 12 and Moore 10 in the opening half while Davis drained a corner jumper at the buzzer for a 43-42 lead at intermission.
Orlando missed all eight of its 3-point attempts in the first half, but drained 4-of-5 from behind the arc in the third quarter to take a 67-62 lead to the fourth. The Bobcats trimmed a nine-point deficit to 83-79 and missed two chances to get closer before Nelson’s long 3-pointer gave the Magic enough cushion to hold on.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Orlando was outrebounded by an average of 17.5 the last four games without Vucevic, but had a 52-41 edge on the boards against the Bobcats. … Charlotte announced the signing of 6-7 swingman Chris Douglas-Roberts on Wednesday and waived G James Southerland. … The Magic held the Bobcats to 36.9 percent shooting and 4-of-17 from 3-point range.
