Monta Ellis recorded a team-high 21 points and Dallas matched a season high by draining 13 from 3-point range to hand visiting Orlando its eighth straight loss.
Former Magic guard Vince Carter contributed 17 points off the bench and Dirk Nowitzki collected 15 for the Mavericks, who won for the fourth time in five games. Jae Crowder scored 14, Jose Calderon had 13 and Wayne Ellington added a season-high 12 for Dallas, which shot 50.6 percent.
Jameer Nelson led the way with 21 points and seven assists while Glen Davis chipped in with 19 points and eight rebounds for Orlando, which ended a five-game road trip. Maurice Harkless registered 13 points and Victor Oladipo added 11 for the Magic.
Ellis had eight points and Dallas made 12-of-21 from the field to take a 28-20 lead after one quarter. Ellis scored six more in the second period – five during a 9-0 run – and the Mavericks extended the lead to as much as 22 before settling for a 59-41 advantage at intermission.
Davis recorded 10 points as Orlando started the second half on a 16-4 run, but Dallas responded by scoring the next 12 and went into the fourth quarter with an 18-point lead. Nelson’s 3-pointer pulled the Magic within 91-82 before Dallas countered with nine straight to put it away.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Mavericks have won the last five meetings with Orlando, including a pair this season. … Magic G Arron Afflalo, the team’s leading scorer, did not play for the second straight game because of a strained right foot. … Dallas F Shawn Marion missed his fourth consecutive game due to rib and shoulder injuries while Mavericks rookie G Shane Larkin was held out with a sore ankle.
