Anthony Davis collected 34 points and 11 rebounds as New Orleans held off host Atlanta.
Tyreke Evans scored 21 points and Brian Roberts added 16 points and five assists for the Pelicans, who have won two of three. Luke Babbitt knocked down three 3-pointers en route to a season-high 11 points off the bench for New Orleans, which went 35-for-43 from the free-throw line.
Jeff Teague scored 23 of his 26 points in the second half and added eight assists as the Hawks had a five-game winning streak come to an end. Paul Millsap added 20 points and Shelvin Mack chipped in 18 for Atlanta.
The Hawks held an eight-point lead before Babbitt capped an 8-2 run with a 3-pointer to send the Pelicans into the fourth quarter down two points. New Orleans began the final period with a 14-2 burst to take a double-digit lead with nine minutes left.
Atlanta cut it to 90-85 on Millsap’s basket with 4:18 left but Babbitt buried a 3-pointer to kick off a 5-0 spurt as the Pelicans pushed it back to double figures. The Hawks were within 109-105 after Teague’s basket with 19 seconds left but Davis hit a pair of free throws and grabbed his final rebound on the other end as New Orleans locked it up.
