Hawks 98, Pacers 85

Jeff Teague scored 11 of his 22 points in the final five minutes and added 10 assists as host Atlanta grabbed a 2-1 series lead over top-seeded Indiana in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference matchup.

Kyle Korver scored 20 points and Paul Millsap added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the eighth-seeded Hawks, who host Game 4 on Saturday. DeMarre Carroll contributed 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting and Lou Williams scored 11 off the bench for Atlanta.

Lance Stephenson recorded 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Pacers, who shot 37.6 percent from the field. Luis Scola scored 17 points and David West added 16 but Paul George was held to 12 points on 3-of-11 shooting to go with 14 rebounds.

The Hawks led by as much as 12 early in the fourth quarter before Indiana crept within 79-75 with 6:28 left after four straight points by Scola. Atlanta stretched the lead back to nine when Teague hoisted up a desperation 3-pointer over Scola with the shot clock winding down and 2:48 remaining, and Korver added a 3-pointer just over a minute later to help put it away.

George’s free throws gave the Pacers a 40-39 lead early in the third quarter but Carroll scored six straight points and totaled nine in an 18-7 burst that put the Hawks up 10 with 5:30 left in the third. Williams’ 3-pointer just in front of the horn sent Atlanta into the fourth with a 67-58 cushion.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pacers C Roy Hibbert sat the entire fourth quarter and finished with four points on 2-of-9 shooting and two rebounds. … Atlanta attempted a franchise playoff-high 34 3-pointers, connecting on 12. … Indiana G George Hill went 1-of-11 from the field in 36 minutes and missed all three of his attempts from beyond the arc as the Pacers struggled to 5-of-20 from 3-point range.
