Pacers 95, Hawks 88: David West collected 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists as visiting Indiana ended the game on a 16-4 run to stun Atlanta and force a decisive Game 7 in the first-round Eastern Conference series.
Paul George added 24 points and eight boards and Lance Stephenson collected 21 and nine for the top-seeded Pacers, who host Game 7 on Saturday. George Hill scored 14 points as Indiana overcame a five-point deficit in the final minutes.
Jeff Teague scored 29 points to lead the eighth-seeded Hawks, who shot 35.8 percent from the field. Paul Millsap added 16 points and 18 rebounds and Lou Williams scored 16 points off the bench for Atlanta.
Hill gave the Pacers their first lead of the fourth quarter on a short jumper with 5:22 left but Millsap scored the next four points to put the Hawks back on top. Indiana trailed 84-79 with 3:15 remaining but grabbed a two-point edge on West’s basket with 46 seconds to play, and George stole the ball on Atlanta’s ensuing possession and hit four straight free throws to help close it out.
The Pacers held a five-point lead at the half and were up 61-54 after David West’s put-back with 3:01 left in the third quarter when the Hawks began to charge back. Millsap’s putback tied it at 61 and Teague scored the final six points of the period, including a hesitation drive through the paint in which he spun around Roy Hibbert for a layup, to send Atlanta into the fourth up 67-64.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Hibbert’s rough series continued as he went scoreless and grabbed two rebounds in 12 minutes. … The Hawks (9-for-35) failed to hit at least 10 3-pointers for the first time in the series. … Indiana won despite recording no fast-break points.
