Chris Copeland scored 17 points and Roy Hibbert collected 16 points and 15 rebounds as visiting Indiana took a defensive battle from Miami.
Donald Sloan added 15 points for the Pacers, who picked up their first road win of the season. Solomon Hill contributed nine points and 10 rebounds as shorthanded Indiana earned back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
Dwyane Wade scored 20 points and Shawne Williams added 15 to lead the Heat. Luol Deng struggled to five points on 2-of-10 shooting while Chris Bosh managed nine on 3-of-13.
Mario Chalmers capped a 7-0 burst with a layup to knot it at 72 as the Pacers went 5:23 without scoring. Sloan ended the drought with a 3-pointer but Wade responded with a 3-pointer of his own before Copeland’s running layup with 42 seconds left gave Indiana the lead for good.
The Pacers held Miami scoreless over the final 3:23 of the third quarter and scored the final six points of the frame to take a 63-58 lead into the final period. The Heat drew within two points three times early in the fourth quarter before Ian Mahinmi’s three-point play stretched Indiana’s lead to 72-65 with 7:03 to play.
