Mavericks 131, Timberwolves 117

Monta Ellis scored a season-high 30 points to lead eight players in double figures as host Dallas followed up the most lopsided victory in club history with a rout of Minnesota.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 15 points and Tyson Chandler collected 12 points and 16 rebounds for Dallas, which has won three straight, including a record-setting 53-point rout of Philadelphia on Friday. J.J. Barea added 14 points, fellow reserve Brandan Wright scored 13 and Chandler Parsons had 12.

Kevin Martin poured in a season-best 34 points to lead Minnesota, which was blown out for the second straight night after a franchise-record 48-point defeat at New Orleans on Friday. Shabazz Muhammad scored 18 in 14 minutes off the bench and Mo Williams and Corey Brewer added 13 apiece as the Timberwolves again were without point guard Ricky Rubio (ankle) and forward Thaddeus Young, who is away from the team following the death of his mother.

Minnesota hung around thanks to Martin's big night, but it could never make a run. The Timberwolves cut it to a 17-point spread early in the fourth quarter, but Richard Jefferson answered with a three-point play and it wasn't that close again until Corey Brewer's jumper cut it to 16 with 1:07 left.

The Timberwolves kept it close throughout the first quarter but went cold in the second, enduring two separate stretches of more than three minutes without a field goal as Dallas opened a 63-44 halftime lead. Martin was 7-for-9 in the first half for 18 points, but the rest of the team was 9-for-34.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dallas has had at least five players score in double figures in eight of its 10 games. … Minnesota PF Anthony Bennett made his first career start after coming off the bench in his first 59 games and finished with 10 points and seven rebounds in 29 minutes. … Martin, who was 12-of-17 from the field, had totaled only 23 points in the previous three games combined.
