Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points as host New York handed Philadelphia its 13th consecutive defeat.

Amar’e Stoudemire added 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Knicks, who were 19-of-21 from the free-throw line. Quincy Acy had 10 points as New York won for only the fourth time this season.

Rookie Nerlens Noel posted season highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds for the 76ers, who are two losses away from matching the worst start in franchise history in 1972-73. Robert Covington added a season-best 14 points and went 4-for-4 from 3-point range.

The Knicks used two 8-0 runs in the third quarter to open up a 21-point lead and held a 71-54 advantage entering the final stanza. Philadelphia rattled off nine straight points to pull within 12 with 8:54 remaining and Covington drained a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to 85-77 with 1:59 to play before Anthony hit back-to-back jumpers to end the challenge.

The 76ers led just once – at 2-0 – and the Knicks scored 11 of the next 13 points to seize control. New York held Philadelphia to 13 first-quarter points but led just 46-39 at the break despite shooting 57.6 percent from the field.

GAME NOTEBOOK: New York PG Jose Calderon (calf) made his season debut and had three points on 1-of-6 shooting in 21 minutes. … The 76ers were 8-of-26 from 3-point range and 15-of-25 from the free-throw line. … Knicks C Andrea Bargnani (hamstring) didn’t make his season debut after having a setback in Friday’s practice.
