Mavericks 109, Knicks 102 (OT)
Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 30 points as the Mavericks ended a two-game losing streak with a hard-fought win over the visiting Knicks.
Tyson Chandler added season highs of 17 points and 25 rebounds, including 10 on the offensive end, for the Mavericks, who played without point guards Jameer Nelson (back spasms) and Raymond Felton (ankle). Chandler Parsons added 13 points and J.J. Barea scored 10 off the bench to lead the Dallas reserves.
Jose Calderon matched his career high with seven 3-pointers on nine attempts and finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Knicks, who have lost 11 of 13. J.R. Smith started in place of injured Carmelo Anthony and scored 15 points, including a tying jumper in the final second of regulation, and Samuel Dalembert contributed 13 points and 13 boards.
The Knicks hurt themselves with six turnovers in overtime. Dallas stripped the ball twice from New York in its offensive end and Nowitzki scored on a short jumper after the second backcourt turnover for a 103-99 lead with 43 seconds left, and the Knicks could draw no closer.
A 10-0 run gave Dallas an 88-83 lead with 2:53 remaining in regulation but Calderon came back with his sixth and seventh 3-pointers to reclaim the lead. The score stayed close as Devin Harris made one of two free throws with seven seconds on the clock and Smith sank a fallaway jumper from just inside the 3-point line with a second left to send the game to overtime.
