John Wall led the way with 20 points and 10 assists as visiting Washington sprinted past Miami in the final minutes.
Nene added 20 points and six rebounds off the bench and Bradley Beal scored 16 for the Wizards, who have won six straight. Paul Pierce contributed 14 points as Washington overcame a 3-of-14 effort from beyond the arc.
Dwyane Wade collected 28 points and eight assists for the Heat, who fell for the eighth time in 11 games. Luol Deng scored 19 points and Mario Chalmers added 14 for Miami.
Pierce’s layup capped a 7-1 run and gave the Wizards their first lead of the fourth quarter at 93-92, and Wall’s layup with 2:34 to play knotted it at 95. Wall’s free throws gave Washington a 101-97 cushion with 19 seconds left and Beal went 4-of-4 from the line in the final 11 seconds to close it out.
The Heat led by as much as eight points in the third quarter but settled for a 79-76 advantage heading to the final frame. Wade and Wall traded baskets to keep it a three-point gap before Wade found Hassan Whiteside for a dunk and a 91-86 lead midway through the fourth.
