Goran Dragic scored 25 points on 11-of-16 shooting and Gerald Green added 21 points off the bench as visiting Phoenix handed Minnesota its 13th straight loss.
Eric Bledsoe had 17 points, seven rebounds and a season-best five steals and Isaiah Thomas added 17 points and matched his season high of five steals for the Suns, who have won four straight and 10 of their last 12. Markieff Morris tallied 14 points and Alex Len contributed eight rebounds and five blocked shots.
Andrew Wiggins scored 25 points for the Timberwolves but his potential game-winning 3-pointer bounced off the rim as time expired. Mo Williams had 23 points and 11 assists, Anthony Bennett had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Thaddeus Young added 13 points and eight rebounds for Minnesota.
Green made two 3-pointers during a 10-0 run early in the fourth quarter as Phoenix slipped ahead by four before the Timberwolves tied it at 90 on a basket by Wiggins with 6:20 left. Minnesota led by one after two free throws by Wiggins with 1:50 remaining but the Suns scored eight of the next 10 points for five-point lead and Thomas’ missed free throw with 5.5 seconds left gave Wiggins and the Timberwolves a shot at the victory.
Wiggins and Williams each scored 13 points as Minnesota led 48-45 at the break. The Timberwolves opened the third quarter with a 12-2 burst for a 13-point lead and Phoenix answered with the next 10 before Minnesota finished strong on a 3-pointer by Williams that gave the Timberwolves a 78-71 edge entering the final stanza.
