Warriors 122, Nuggets 79

Klay Thompson led the way with 22 points as Golden State slammed visiting Denver to set a west coast franchise record with its 16th straight home win.

Stephen Curry added 20 points and eight assists for the Warriors, who moved past the 1989-90 squad’s record of 15 straight and matched the franchise mark, set most recently by the 1959 Philadelphia Warriors. Leandro Barbosa scored 12 points and Shaun Livingston added 12 on 6-of-6 shooting as the Golden State reserves combined for 67 points.

Ty Lawson collected 19 points and six assists to lead the Nuggets, who have lost three in a row since a five-game winning streak. Jameer Nelson contributed 14 points and five assists off the bench as Denver dropped to 6-14 on the road.

Wilson Chandler hit a 3-pointer on the Nuggets’ first possession but Denver would not see the lead again as Curry countered from beyond the arc and the Warriors pushed the lead out to 25-15 by the end of the first quarter. Nelson started the second quarter with a 3-pointer before the Nuggets endured a scoring drought of over six minutes and Golden State pushed the lead to 40-18.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from Draymond Green and Thompson helped pushed the advantage to 55-28 at the half as Denver shot 27.9 percent and turned the ball over nine times. Curry’s 3-pointer early in the third made it a 33-point gap and it reached 107-68 on Barbosa’s free throws just past the midway point of the fourth as the starters watched the reserves close it out.
