Carmelo Anthony had 31 points and eight rebounds as host New York rolled past cold-shooting Los Angeles.
Langston Galloway scored 13 points for the suddenly hot Knicks, who have won five of their past seven games. Lou Amundson collected a season-best 13 rebounds as New York won its eighth straight home meeting against the Lakers.
Carlos Boozer had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Lakers, who shot just 35.5 percent from the field. Jordan Clarkson also scored 19 points as Los Angeles lost for the 10th time in 11 games.
The Knicks dominated the second half and an eight-point halftime lead turned into a 21-point lead on a three-pointer by Tim Hardaway Jr. with 10 minutes left in the contest. Only a late offensive surge in the final minutes kept the Lakers from producing a season low for points.
Los Angeles shot just 26.8 percent from the field in the first half while trailing 47-39 at the break. Anthony scored 18 points in the third quarter as New York opened up a 19-point lead before settling for a 72-57 edge entering the final stanza.
