Russell Westbrook contributed 21 points and 17 assists in just 27 minutes as host Oklahoma City rolled Denver after getting some disappointing news earlier in the day.
Enes Kanter added 20 points and 12 rebounds in his second game for the Thunder, who announced that Kevin Durant underwent a second right foot surgery earlier in the day to alleviate pain but expect the reigning MVP to return during the regular season. Serge Ibaka added 20 points and Dion Waiters 17 off the bench as Oklahoma City won its sixth straight.
Ty Lawson scored 17 points for the Nuggets, who have lost 15 of their last 17 games. Danilo Gallinari chipped in 16 points and three 3-pointers, but Denver shot just 36.1 percent from the floor.
The Thunder shot 60 percent in the first quarter, doubled up the Nuggets on the board and got eight points apiece from Westbrook, Kanter and Waiters to open a comfortable 36-18 lead. Westbrook added 10 assists in the second quarter, and his 3-pointer during an 8-0 burst opened a 60-36 edge with just over three minutes left in the half.
The Thunder led by 25 at the half, got within 20 midway through the third before Westbrook scored seven during a 14-4 burst to restore a 91-61 bulge. Perry Jones pushed the edge to 33 midway through the fourth with a shot from the arc, before Oklahoma City coasted home.
