Rudy Gay had 28 points and six assists as host Sacramento knocked off Memphis.
DeMarcus Cousins added 16 points, nine rebounds and six assists as the Kings won for just the fourth time in 18 games as well as halting a nine-game losing streak against the Grizzlies. Ben McLemore also had 16 points for Sacramento, which held Memphis to 13 points on 5-of-21 shooting in the fourth quarter.
Zach Randolph scored 20 points and Marc Gasol added 14 for Memphis, which lost for just the fourth time in 20 games. Mike Conley had 12 points and seven assists and Jeff Green scored 11 points.
Cousins had just four points in the first three quarters before scoring eight points during a 10-0 burst to open the final quarter as the Kings moved ahead by nine. Gay’s 3-pointer gave Sacramento a 93-83 edge with 4:51 remaining and a basket by Cousins pushed the advantage to 14 with 2:13 to play.
Gay scored 17 first-half points as Sacramento outplayed the Grizzlies and took a 62-52 lead into the break. Memphis scored the first nine points of the second half and inched ahead on Courtney Lee’s basket with 6:28 left in the third quarter before leading 77-76 entering the final stanza.
