Rudy Gay scored 40 points on 13-of-19 shooting as Sacramento surged past visiting Portland for its first win of the season.
DeMarcus Cousins added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Kings, who turned the ball over only twice in the second half. Darren Collison also scored 17 points and dished out eight assists for Sacramento, which won the battle of the boards 49-38.
LaMarcus Aldridge led the way with 22 points while Damian Lillard chipped in 20 for the Trail Blazers. Wesley Matthews scored 16 points, but finished just 1-of-7 from the 3-point line.
Gay made his first three shots of the second half to spark a 14-4 spurt that put the Kings on top 62-52. The Trail Blazers clawed all the way back from an 11-point deficit following Chris Kaman's jumper late in the third quarter before Steve Blake and Matthews hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Portland a 77-73 lead.
Gay keyed a 13-0 spurt to put the Kings back in front 86-77 after the Trail Blazers failed to make a field goal for over six minutes in the fourth quarter. Portland closed to within six but Sacramento made six free throws down the stretch to seal the win
