Mavericks 100, Lakers 93

Monta Ellis scored 31 points and went 5-of-7 from 3-point range as visiting Dallas handed Los Angeles its fifth straight loss.

Al-Farouq Aminu added 13 points and a season-best six steals and Dirk Nowitzki scored 12 for the Mavericks, who won for just the second time in six games. Chandler Parsons had 11 points after missing the previous seven games with an ankle injury.

Carlos Boozer had 17 points and eight rebounds to pace the Lakers, who dropped to 9-21 at home. Jordan Clarkson and Wesley Johnson added 15 points apiece and Wayne Ellington had 13.

Los Angeles had a 90-84 lead after Boozer’s basket with 6:35 remaining before Aminu scored the next six points as part of an 11-0 run to give the Mavericks a five-point edge with 2:41 left. Ellis tied a season high by connecting on his fifth 3-pointer to make it 98-91 with 2:03 left and added a 21-footer 56 seconds later as the Lakers missed six straight field-goal attempts until Ellington’s layup at the buzzer.

Los Angeles used an 8-0 lead late in the first half to inch ahead and the game was tied at 44 at the break. The Lakers took a nine-point lead in the third before Ellis drained three 3-pointers in the final 61 seconds of the quarter to pull the Mavericks within 77-75 entering the final stanza.
