Bulls 102, Pacers 100 (OT)

CHICAGO -- Guard Jimmy Butler tipped in an alley-oop pass with 1.2 seconds remaining in overtime, lifting the Chicago Bulls to a 102-100 win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

Butler scored 28 points, including 23 during the second half and overtime. Guard Aaron Brooks came off the bench to score a season-high 29 points and rookie forward Bobby Portis added 16 points for Chicago (18-12).

Guard George Hill scored 20 points to lead the Pacers. Forward Paul George added 19 points for Indiana (18-13).

Chicago won for the first time in four overtime contests. The Bulls played without guard Derrick Rose, who was ruled out about an hour before tipoff because of right hamstring tendinitis.

Chicago scored the first seven points of overtime to build a 98-91 lead. The Pacers rallied with a 9-2 run to even the score at 100. Guard Monta Ellis drilled a 3-pointer from the left corner with 3.7 seconds remaining in overtime to tie the game.

Brooks tossed the inbounds pass to forward Pau Gasol, who lobbed an alley-oop pass toward the rim as Butler sprinted in from the right baseline. Butler tipped the ball over George to seize the lead.

On the game's final possession, Butler blocked George's layup attempt at the buzzer.

The score was even at 91 at the end of the fourth quarter. After Ellis scored to put Indiana on top 91-89, Butler made a driving layup with 25.9 seconds remaining to force a tie.

Ellis missed a last-second jump shot to prompt overtime.

A one-handed slam dunk by Portis put Chicago on top 75-70 early in the fourth quarter. Indiana answered with a 12-0 run to pull ahead 82-75 with 4:53 remaining.

Chicago entered the fourth quarter with a 66-62 edge after scoring the final six points of the third quarter. Indiana erased a 14-point deficit in the third with a 19-4 run and took a 59-58 lead.

Chicago led 50-40 at halftime after finishing the second quarter on a 12-3 run. Brooks shot 4-for-4 from beyond the arc during the first half and led all scorers with 18 points at the break.

The score was even at 21 after the first quarter.

Pacers center Ian Mahinmi exited the game in the third quarter with a sore left knee and did not return.

NOTES: Chicago G Derrick Rose was a late scratch Wednesday because of right hamstring tendinitis. Rose, 27, missed two games earlier this season because of a left ankle injury. He has missed 231 of 358 regular-season games since the start of the 2011-12 campaign. ... Indiana F C.J. Miles missed his second consecutive game because a sore lower back.
