Bucks 108, Hawks 101
MILWAUKEE -- Michael Carter-Williams and Giannis Antetokounmpo each hit 3-pointers in overtime as the Milwaukee Bucks rallied late for a 108-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night at the Bradley Center.
Antetokounmpo had six of his game-high 28 in the extra session while Carter-Williams finished with 15 and added nine rebounds and seven assists.
The Bucks' young point guard was a key force on the defensive end, too. He blocked a pair of shots, including a potential game-winner at the end of regulation then intercepted an Atlanta pass that set the stage for Antetokounmpo's 3-pointer with 1:06 left, giving Milwaukee a 106-99 lead.
The Hawks shot 45 percent from the field in regulation but went 3-for-12 during the extra session and missed all seven of their 3-point attempts.
Atlanta hit seven of its first 10 3-pointers and led by 11 before the Bucks, who missed all five of their long-distance attempts and were just 39.1 percent from the field, closed the second quarter on a 6-0 run to go into the break down, 51-46.
John Henson gave Milwaukee a 66-65 lead with 3:55 left in the third, but it wouldn't last long as the Hawks closed the quarter on a 9-4 run and kept the Bucks at bay until Antetokoumpo's running layup tied the game at 85-85 with 5:54 remaining.
Forward Paul Millsap led Atlanta with 23 points but fouled out with 1:17 left, getting tangled up with Antetokoumpo, who sank both free throws to give the Bucks a 95-93 lead. Al Horford, who finished with 18, tied it up again, with a 17-footer from the right elbow but the Hawks missed a chance to take the lead when Korver bricked a long 3-pointer with 34.6 seconds left.
The Bucks missed their own chance to go ahead, but Michael Carter-Williams lost the ball trying to dump to Monroe on the baseline. The ball brushed a Hawks player on the way out of bounds, giving Milwaukee one last chance with 12.4 to play but again, the Bucks couldn't control the ball so Atlanta got its final shot with 10.9 left.
Point guard Jeff Teague has a chance to win it at the buzzer but his shot was blocked by Carter-Williams, sending the game to overtime.
