Raptors 89, Grizzlies 85

TORONTO -- Guard DeMar DeRozan scored 21 points and the Toronto Raptors defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 98-85 on Sunday night.

Guard Kyle Lowry added 18 points and seven assists for the Raptors (36-18), who had lost their previous two games.

Forward Zach Randolph scored 18 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Grizzlies (32-23), who had won their two previous games.

The Raptors took a 10-point lead after three quarters and increased that to 14 in the fourth quarter.

The Grizzlies trimmed the lead to five points late in the fourth. but Raptors reserve guard Cory Joseph hit a 3-pointer with 1:09 to play to give Toronto a 10-point lead.

Joseph finished with 14 points.

Center Jonas Valanciunas scored 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Raptors, while reserve forward Patrick Patterson had 11 points with eight rebounds.

Reserve guard Mario Chalmers added 17 points for Memphis and guards Vince Carter and Lance Stephenson scored 16 points each.

Joseph hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Raptors a 22-20 lead after the first quarter.

The Raptors worked their lead up to 12 with 5:24 to play in the first half when forward Terrence Ross drained a 3-pointer.

The Grizzlies chipped away at the lead and Randolph's jumper from the top of the key trimmed the Raptors' advantage to three points with 2:59 left.

Carter finished the first half by sinking three free throws with 1.6 seconds on the clock, and the Raptors took a 46-43 lead into the second half.

Carter had 13 first-half points and Lowry led Toronto with 12.

Lowry hit a 3-pointer with 4:51 to play in the third quarter to increase the Raptors' lead to eight points.

DeRozan made two free throws to end the third quarter and give the Raptors a 74-64 lead.

Reserve center Bismack Biyombo opened the fourth quarter with a fadeaway jumper that increased Toronto's lead to 12.

Patterson hit a 3-pointer to increase the lead to 14.

The Grizzlies cut the lead to eight on a 21-footer by Stephenson with 5:59 to play.

After Lowry missed a 3-point attempt, Stephenson made a layup to trim the lead to six with 5:26 left.

Randolph made two free throws with 3:31 to play and the Grizzlies trailed by five points.

DeRozan got the lead back up to eight with a jumper and a free throw.

Stephenson made two free throws with 2:51 to play to reduce the margin to six points. Carter made one of two free throws with 2:27 left and cut the lead to 90-85.

NOTES: Memphis G Tony Allen (sore left knee) was scratched from the game on Sunday. Allen was listed as questionable after he left the win over the Minnesota Timberwolves Friday and was replaced by G P.J. Hairston. ...
