The Cincinnati Bengals saw their wide receiver corps undergo significant change this offseason. Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu departed and the vacancies were filled by Brandon LaFell and rookie Tyler Boyd. The preseason would provide a time for both receivers to get some chemistry down with quarterback Andy Dalton, that is if they avoided injuries.
Unfortunately for LaFell, he tore a ligament in his hand and it caused him to miss the Bengals first preseason game and now will extend through training camp and deep into the preseason.
While surgery remains a possibility, Bengals' coach Marvin Lewis said on Tuesday that LaFell is not expected to miss the Bengals' opener in Week 1. But until he returns, it provides a great opportunity for Boyd to shine with more first-team reps in practice and in games.
