Darren McFadden Likely to Start Week 1

Remember the article we wrote indicating that Joseph Randle might be a solid DFS play this week? Well, you might now be able to replace Randle's name with Darren McFadden. Such is the nature of the beast when it comes to uncertain running back situations early in the NFL season. Yeah, we warned you about that as well.

According to Clarence Hill of the Star-Telagram, the Dallas Cowboys are expected to start McFadden against the New York Giants Sunday night:

This pretty much runs contrary to everything we heard during the latter stages of the preseason. If McFadden is indeed the starer, and doesn't have a pitch count, Randle becomes an unnecessary fantasy component this week. Though, "this week" is the operative term to take out of all this. In DFS, contests McFadden becomes the value play against a bad New York Giants run defense.

In terms of standard re-draft leagues, we already know that it's a fool's game to rely on McFadden to make a year-round fantasy impact. So if you have Randle rostered, this is more likely than not a minor short-term hiccup.
